M.D.Professor Fadıl VARDAR


He was born in Venican village of Skopje (Macedonia) in 1949. He attended primary and secondary schools in Izmir. He became a medical doctor after graduation from School of Medicine of Ege University in 1974. After he completed the “pediatrics education” in Pediatrics Department of School of Medicine in Ege University in 1980, he was awarded the title “Pediatrician”. While working at the same clinic as a pediatrician, he received “Pediatric Infectious Diseases” sub-specialty in 1998. He was awarded the title “Associate Professor” on November 24, 1998 and he continued education and training duties in Pediatrics Clinic of School of Medicine in Ege University.

He worked as physician at numerous clinical divisions (Nephrology, Supervision of Well-Child, Cardiology, Neonatology, General Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases) of Pediatrics Department in School of Medicine of Ege University from 1980 to 1998.

He continued his private practice along with his clinical studies from 1982 to 2000. He became a Professor on August 6, 2004. During his faculty member interval, he supervised 10 dissertations, including three for post-graduate degree and seven for doctorate degree. All the dissertations he supervised were presented and published in national and international congresses.

Prof. Vardar, M.D., has authored 143 articles in total. Out of 81 articles, 32 were published in international peer reviewed journals, while 49 were published in national peer reviewed journals. He presented 62 papers in total, including 18 in international  congresses and 44 in national congresses.

His articles mostly focused on infectious diseases, newborns, general pediatrics, social pediatrics and epidemiology. Fifteen of his international articles are research papers.

Prof. Vardar, M.D., actively participates to international and national congresses, symposiums and events and he lectured in conferences, mostly on infection and general pediatrics.

Prof. Vardar, M.D., authored 26 chapters in books mostly about infection and general pediatrics and he gained 4 awards in national congresses due to his articles and studies.

He is active member of Turkish Society of Pediatrics, Turkish Pediatrics Society, Association of Pediatric Infectious Diseases. His career involves being head of department, Board Member of Association of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Deputy Head of Medical Sciences Directorate in School of Medicine of Ege University and President of Circulating Capital Review and Objection Committee.

Prof. Fadıl Vardar, M.D., started admitting patients in Pediatrics Clinic of Sani Konukoğlu Practice and Research Hospital of Sanko University, where Assoc. Prof. Ünal Sarıkabadayı (Head of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Hamide Palaz, M.D., Beyhan Levent Erdoğan, M.D., Mehmet Almacıoğlu, M.D., and Ayşe Demirçubuk, M.D., work.

Prof. Vardar, M.D., is married to İlknur Vardar, M.D., who is a specialist of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. He has 2 children, including a son who is a mechanical engineer and a daughter who is an English teacher.
